Boeing 747-400 VH-OJF suffered an engine surge shortly after departing Bangkok as QF1 to London Heathrow. Crew shut down the engine and returned to Bangkok, landing around 90 minutes after departure. 2nd April 2010 - Further issues with 747-400 VH-OJI cause trans-Pacific reshuffle.

Following the incident at Sydney on 30th March Boeing 747-438 VH-OJI returned to the air today positioning empty to Brisbane as QF6015 to take up flight QF15 to Los Angeles. The aircraft went technical at Brisbane prompting the following re-shuffle of trans-Pacific flights. QF15 of 2nd April was delayed until April 3rd operated by VH-OJD which had arrived on QF16 from Los Angeles and was due to position to Sydney. As there was no aircraft in Los Angeles to operate QF16 to Brisbane on 2nd April VH-OEE was commandeered from QF108 New York JFK - Los Angeles to operate the flight. The Los Angeles - Sydney sector of QF108 was cancelled. VH-OEE positioned empty to Sydney as QF6007 on arrival at Brisbane. On arrival at Los Angeles on 3rd April VH-OJD returned empty to Brisbane as QF6018 to take up QF15 back to Los Angeles on 4th April, departing Brisbane eight hours late.
