QANTAS News October 2010

31st October 2010 - VH-OQB to Frankfurt for C Check.

Airbus A380 VH-OQB positioned London Heathrow - Frankfurt as QF6020 for a C Check at Lufthansa Teknik.








26th October 2010 - VH-OJB in service with 3 Class Configuration.

Boeing 747-400 VH-OJB returned from Avalon today with Premium Economy seating fitted and joins VH-OJI in 56J/40W/275Y configuration.

22nd October 2010 - Alliance F100s substitute on BNE-ROK again.

Alliance Airlines Fokker 100s have operated Brisbane - Rockhampton rotations today in place of QANTASLink Dash 8-Q400s.

22nd October 2010 - 747s for QF129/130 Sydney - Shanghai in January 2011.

QF129 Sydney - Shanghai and QF130 Shanghai - Sydney on 18th, 25th, 29th and 30th January 2011 will be operated with 4 Class Kangaroo configuration Boeing 747-400s. The downstairs Business Class section and Premium Economy section are available for Gold and Platinum Frequent Flyers travelling on Economy Class tickets whilst the First Class and upper deck Business Class cabins are available for Business Class passengers.

16th October 2010 - 747-400 VH-OJC collects Commonwealth Games athletes.

3 Class Boeing 747-400 VH-OJC positioned Sydney - Delhi on 14th October to collect the Australian Commonwealth Games team. The return flight, QF6030, arrived into Sydney this morning having diverted via Canberra due to high winds at Sydney.

7th October 2010 - QF29 on board drama.

QF29 Melbourne - Hong Kong of 6th October operated by Boeing 747-438 VH-OJN made the news due to a male passenger becoming agitated and threatening to open a door. The man was subdued by the crew and arrested on arrival in Hong Kong.







5th October 2010 - A380 VH-OQA back in the air.

Following C Check by Lufthansa in Frankfurt A380 VH-OQA is positioning to Sydney as QF6020.

6th October 2010 - Former QANTAS 747-300 on the move.

Boeing 747-338 N175SGG, the former VH-EBV was ferried Marana - Tucson - Sharjah on delivery to Al Sayegh Airlines. The airline intends to serve Istanbul, Moscow and Bishkek from Sharjah.

4th October 2010 - Inbound International Delays.

QF64 Johannesburg - Sydney of Saturday 2nd October operated by 747-438 VH-OJN did not depart Johannesburg until 3rd October arriving into Sydney 26 hours late. QF26 Los Angeles - Auckland of Friday 1st October operated by A330-200 VH-EBG did not depart Los Angeles until Saturday 2nd October arriving into Auckland 22 hours late. The aircraft positioned to Sydney on 4th October as QF6020. As VH-EBG had been due to turn around in Auckland on 3rd October and operate QF25 back to Los Angeles substitute A330-200 VH-EBI was positioned Sydney - Auckland as QF6007 on 3rd October in order to operate QF25 on schedule.

1st October 2010 - QF30 to become evening departure.

Commencing on 27th March 2011 QF30 London Heathrow - Hong Kong - Melbourne will become an evening departure rather than a lunchtime departure from London. QF29 Melbourne - Hong Kong - London Heathrow remains unchanged. Whilst decreasing aircraft utilisation on the route it does mean that connections via Hong Kong from and to Perth, Brisbane and Sydney now work in both directions.

16th October 2010 - A330-300 VH-QPH makes smoky QF42 landing.

Airbus A330-300 VH-QPH operating flight QF42 from Jakarta landed at Sydney with emergency services on stand-by due to smoke coming from the left hand engine. The aircraft landed safely but was towed onto the stand.

13th October 2010 - 747-400 on Domestic Duties.

2 Class Boeing 747-438 VH-OJB operated QF441 Sydney - Melbourne and QF452 Melbourne - Sydney today in place of the usual Boeing 767-300.

11th October 2010 - A330-200 VH-EBO makes first flight.

Airbus A330-200 VH-EBO made its first flight from Toulouse today as F-WWKJ. The aircraft is still in primer but carries QANTAS tail markings. This aircraft will be in the same Domestic configuration as VH-EBM and VH-EBN and once delivered will release VH-EBJ to transfer to JetStar.

10th October 2010 - QANTAS announce Melbourne - Darwin flights.

QANTAS will introduce direct services from Melbourne to Darwin commencing in May 2011. Services will start at 3 x per week and will be marketed as CityFlyer services. Flights will be operated by Boeing 737-800 aircraft.
